It's been a month and a half since we moved Ada into her new toddler bedroom, meaning since then I've been without a desk. And for someone who rarely worked at her old one, I missed it A LOT. It's fine when I was working the days that Ada was in nursery, but those few hours I wanted to slot in before Kane went to work.. Well, it's hard trying to work from the sofa with an 18 month old around. Anyway, it's all finally here, so without further a do.. my new desk space!
The biggest struggle for this space was finding a desk to fit in it.. My house isn't the biggest, we have three bedrooms but the smallest is now taken up by all the stock in my shop, and the majority of the spaces have already been filled. There's a little corner in the conservatory that's been chopped and changed about a few times recently, and I'd never really settled on something I loved there. The wall is just over 60cm, and most desks are at least 80cm wide, so it meant A LOT of searching for something I really liked.
I originally had a leaning desk with shelving above in mind, but I couldn't find anything I really liked that was actually in my budget. I was looking everywhere, and eventually when La Redoute had one of their wonderful 40% discount codes floating around, I bought the Clariroy dressing table. When it arrived I assembled it without attaching the mirror at the back, and voila! It's a desk! It's got an absolutely beautiful mid century design that I absolutely love, and it's pretty much a perfect size for the space.
The wall it was on had a floating shelf with some of Kane's toys on, which obviously had to go (sorry Kane!) I removed it, filled the holes, gave it a lick of paint and popped up some prints I bought off Etsy, from Daisy Illustrates, Henna By Jo and Sarah Illustration. A quick style up with some plants and an endless supply of notebooks, I'm done!
What do you think of my new desk space?
Such a lovely space! Really like the style of this desk.
