Fantasy autumn fashion.

I might be crazy, but over the past few days I've found myself dreaming of autumn. It's not hard to really, when it's pouring down outside and all the shops are filling up with beautiful layers, thick cardigans, boucle and velvet. Autumn is one of my favourite seasons anyway, but there's something about the fashion which is just so much more appealing to me. Sure, I'll miss the convenience of throwing on a loose dress and minimal make-up, but I'm really looking forward to digging out out my winter wardrobe again.

Something that has been really filling me with inspiration, aside from Pinterest, is creating little outfit sets on Polyvore. I used to have an account a few years ago which I was obsessed with, but it somehow got a little lost in the internet. Do you have a Polyvore? Please leave your links below if you do! And you can follow me here, if you so wish!

Etsy August spotlight; The top ten.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

01. The Harry Potter geek inside me is saying 'BUY IT, BUY IT NOWWWWW!', and at just £2.43 why wouldn't you?! Bruisn store has lots of little HP necklaces actually, including the deathly hallows and the snitch too. I'll take them all, please.

02. Shade on Shape has such a beautiful selection of handpainted vases, I couldn't resist including these. They'd be wonderful as a decorations on a wedding table, and a perfect little memento to take home too.

03. I used to love doing cross stitch, and it'd be the perfect way to get back into it with this amazing Mean Girls DOY kit! Hester Gersonius has such a good selection of cross stitch designs, but this one and 'Chanello!' (from SATC) are definitely my favourites.

04. Spring Blossom is definitely one of my favourite Pyrex patterns, but sadly I've never found any in the UK. These two mixing bowls from General Taxonomy are perfect, and she has a lovely shop full of vintage.

05. A daisy crochet afghan has been up on my list of things I'd love to find since I started charity shopping some years ago, but sadly I just don't think they're too popular in the UK. This one from Wild Dragonfly Designs is just perfect.

06. Jewellery is always something that really jumps out at me on Etsy, and this pretty necklace is no different. Sujin Simple Chic store is full of really lovely, delicate pieces.

7. 8. 9. 10.

07. Capsule Vintage is one of the favourites on Etsy, and I really love this cute early 60s top. I have quite a few tops like these, mainly because they go with so much and are easy to throw on!

08. A. Ryan. Gosling. Tea. Towel. It's pretty self explanitory, I want this. From Dear Colleen.

09. Breaking Bad hit our screens again this week, and I'm so excited about the rest of the season, although pretty gutted it's the last season. Both Kane and I absolutely love the show, so these amazing pencils from Pop Couture Pencils would make a great present for him.

10. Lena Loves Vintage is another favourite of mine, and I really love this head scarf. I've been really liking wearing a scarf around my head in summer, I'll be a little sad when they don't get as much wear in the colder months.

What do you think of my picks? Have you found anything great on Etsy recently?

The Forgotten Favourites

I think we've all been there; looking through the drawers of make-up choosing out what will be used that day, and we'll spot something we forgot we had. And actually, it's something that we used to really love. I go through stages of being obsessed with various products, to the point they're used for months until something new might come in, and then the obsession rolls over.

Coco Mademoiselle isn't something I've ever really forgotten, but something I tried to save for 'best'; if I don't, I end up going through a bottle every few months because it is just my all time favourite perfume. However, I've recently realised that 'best' isn't something that rolls around too much for me, and really it was barely getting used, so I've been enjoying using it a little more recently. I also seem to have forgotten about one of my favourite hair products, the Kerastase shine perfecting mist. Since a couple of the Dove sprays have come into my life, this little one has been put to the back of the drawer, but I have to say my hair is definitely missing the amazing shine it gives. Vanilla Dee-lite has also been a bit neglected, with lighter and fruitier lotions being preferred whilst it's been hot and humid, but it seems to be cooling down now so I'm looking forward to using it throughout autumn.

Make-up has been minimal for some time now, and I actually haven't worn liquid eyeliner in quite a few months, even though I used to never leave the house without it. Supercat is still my favourite, although I may have to purchase a new one as this has probably dried up now! I've been all about cream blushers too, but Rose Gold is such the perfect summer blush, I definitely need to get it used up before the sun disappears. I've been obsessed with corals and peaches too, but used to be in love with orange reds. This one from Avon was always a firm favourite, so it really needs a few more trips out of the drawer!

A few of the little things..

In my latest happy list post, I mentioned the appreciating the little things in life. Now, I know buying a new dress may not be a 'little thing', it certainly isn't to me, but regardless these are the things putting a smile on my face this week.

revisiting an old favourite
a couple new lip products

Life lately #4

wearing two old favourites | mum's fiance's pretty kitty | salmon potato cakes | pudding with mum | my stall at kenyon hall farm | sleepy bella | boots buys | new sandals | cute 80s dress found | rest of that day's finds | shameless selfie | sanpellegrino (y) | new t-rex vinyl | roses | new buys | messy blogging | 70s charity shop finds | rumours on a saturday morning

Currently listening to: A lot of the same old stuff, really! I found a new Fleetwood Mac vinyl, and I've been listening to the Paul Simon vinyl I picked up last month.

Currently reading: sadly nothing at the moment except magazines! I bought Elle for the first time in at least a couple of years and was really pleasantly surprised! I found all the articles really interesting and thought provoking, although not too keen on the fashion (focusing on this grungey rubbish trend that's going on at the moment).

Current favourite blog: I've been getting back into reading a lot of beauty blogs recently. From Roses is one I discovered a month or so again that is just beautiful, really lovely images. I've also become obsessed with checking Nouvelle Daily everyday too; i love the new articles they're throwing into the beauty mix, little bits on health and crafts too.

Current favourite product: I really love the new L'Oreal Ever Creme  S&C that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I've also been pretty stuck to the L'Oreal Glamshine Stain Splash in Princess, it's just so easy to apply and longlasting.

The Skincare Series; Toners.

It was only at the start of this year that I declared toner's were useless; all I ever used was a Simple one to take off any remains of make-up after a cleanser. Of course, in the past that's all what we believed a toner could do, but over the past few years a whole lot of toners have been created to effect your skin in different ways. I honestly love my toner routine now, it's definitely my favourite step in my skincare routine and I'm always looking for new ones to add to my collection.

Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz - This is one of my newest additions, and I'm actually surprised at how much I like this toner. I wasn't expecting much after the reviews I've read and the price, but it's possibly the one I'm reaching for the most at the moment. The Rosewater is very refreshing, and it's great for sensitive skin. I don't know how it's managing to do it, but it's cleared up my problem areas wonderfully, too.

La Roche Posay Effaclar lotion - I'm a little bit wary of this one, only really because the scent is very strong and seems harsh; the Effaclar duo also did nothing but break me out, so I was worried about this causing a reaction. That said, I haven't had any negative effects from this. It purifies my face nicely, and seems to reduce any pores and leaves it looking bright in the morning. I don't use it everyday, but it's a nice one to use a few times a week as an exfoliation.

Lush Tea Tree Toner Water - Aaah, the first toner I really fell in love with. I don't use this so much anymore, but when I'm having some issues and a few blemishes pop up, I always have this on hand. After a good cleanse I really spritz this onto the problem areas, and they just seem to dry up so much quicker than without it. I make sure I always have a bottle of this in stock, just in case.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir - Again, this is another one I'd be lost with if any spots flare up. It contains rosemary, mint, glycerin and orange blossom which are all designed to give a radiance to the skin, but they always work wonderfully drying up any blemishes I might have.

Botanics All Bright Cleansing Toner - I bought this one with the Rosewater spritz as they were on offer, and I thought why not. I was attracted to this one as it mentions on the back it contains natural AHA's, and I sometimes find my complexion a little dull. This one pretty much does what is says on the tin (or bottle, rather) and brightens my face wonderfully whilst also clearing out any problem areas. Again, one I wasn't expecting much from but am pleasantly surprised by!

Do you use any of these toners? What toners do you recommend?

Bumble & Bumble, Fifi Lapin and yet more stationary

fifi lapin iphone 4s case: iconemesis*

I was recently contacted by Iconemesis who kindly offered me an iPhone case to review. I jumped at the chance as I won one of their cases through a blogger giveaway a couple years ago now; it lasted me well until I think I may have dropped it one too many times and it cracked. I absolutely love their Fifi Lapin range and this 'repeat' design; if I'm ever stuck for something to wear, my phone case now gives me great inspiration! Delivery was really quick and the product feels like great quality.

I picked this bag up a few weeks ago now but just forgot to include it in any posts! I got it from a new seller at Vintage Village for the measly sum of £4! I've been after an old beaded bag for ages, so even though this one wasn't exactly the colour I'd hoped for, I knew I had to snap it up anyway!

Again, another little item that has been lurking away somewhere! I saw this on Preston car boot a few weeks ago, and seeming the colour matches some of my dressing table pretty much exactly, I knew it had to be mine (and it cost just a pound!) My boyfriend did scoff at me when I brought it home though, as my dressing table has an absolutely huge mirror attached to it. But oh well!

I picked up these little bits today during a charity shopping trip with Mum. I stopped buying Elle quite some time ago, but really wanted to try the bumble and bumble thickening spray which I'm ridiculously excited to use. And I've actually been pleasantly surprised with Elle too, even though the September issue is packed with adverts. And y'know even though I picked up new notebooks last week? Yeah, well I bought another.. This one has a little memo pad inside and is actually a mini storage file, so will be great for keeping all my stock receipts organized. Plus it was only £1.88 from a Hallmark outlet store!

owl tart burner: ebay
yankee candle tarts: yankeedoodle

Kane treated me to a few little bits of my august wishlist this weekend. I'd had my eye on this owl burner on ebay for ages, but I'm actually a little disappointed! As you can see from the pictures it doesn't fit the tart actually in the space, so they'll all have to be chopped up, and it has a few little chips on the back too, but oh well! It was only £6.99 with free delivery so not much room to complain. I also ordered some tarts off a new website, which I was really impressed with. Most of these scents I haven't tried before and some are old favourites; I think I'm most excited to try salted caramel which is a new scent for autumn!

le comptoir scandinave sandals: spartoo*

I've been in love with Swedish Hasbeen style sandals for quite some time now. I don't know why I haven't taken the plunge before (probably the washout summers that usually curse this country), but I knew I had to get some this year, and they definitely haven't disappointed. I got the tan pair as they're the colour that will go with the most, but I love the dusky pink ones too. They're ridiculously easy to walk in and surprisingly not as uncomfortable as they look - definitely my perfect summer sandal!

Have you been treating yourself to anything new recently?

The Happy list #3

01. This little lady, my Bella. I had a spot of bother with her recently; another woman on the street began feeding her and paying her lots of attention, so if when we were out and Bella wanted to come in, she ran inside her house.. It got to the point that she'd be gone for up to 4 days and we'd have to go round looking for her. The other lady didn't see the issue, but obviously I felt like I was loosing my cat, who I'd had since she was about 4 months old. I kept her in for a while and showered her with lots of treats and attention, now she seems to love sitting next to me all day long and barely leaves my side. It's like I've got a whole new cat!

02. Healthy eating. I decided I need to lose weight (again!) last week, so I've been eating nothing but salads, fruit and healthy meals for the past week. It's been surprisingly easy and I've lost 4lb this week. I'm looking forward to some of my old clothes fitting again!

03. My Mum's getting married! Yep, at the grand ol' age of 53 (sorry mum!) she's finally met her match and is marrying a wonderful man. I'm incredibly close to my mum and I've always worried about her getting older and the possibility of being alone, but more than that it just makes me happy to see her happy. I'm looking forward to seeing her walk down the aisle in a few weeks.

04. Getting little cards off readers. The lovely Kelli from Fog & Forest sent me this to say thank you for featuring her in one of my posts. The handmade card was such a lovely touch!

05. New notebooks. If you saw my recent post, you'll know four new notebooks came to me last week! They're making me happy filling their pretty pages with lists.

06. Appreciating the little things. I'm trying to focus on the smaller things on life if something else is upsetting me. Anything from a mid week Sunday roast or a nice tidy house is putting a smile on my face.

07. This cute bar & cruet set I thrifted this week, I can't help but smile at their little faces!

08. Wearing sandals! It's currently throwing it down outside, but it actually stopped long enough for me to step out in two new pairs of sandals. What's been making you happy recently?

August wishlist

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.

01. If you've been around here for a while you'll know I am a huge lover of sunglasses. I've spotted these on a few people's instagram's recently, and you wouldn't ever guess, they're from Primark! At just £2 a pop they're a great excuse to add another pair to my collection. Just keeping my fingers crossed they still have them in stock!

02. I spotted an owl tart burner on Abby's blog and really fell in love with it. I love to buy tarts to try out new scents, and they're a great cheaper alternative to the candles. Definitely going to purchase this ebay one very soon.

03. I've been loving succulents at the moment, so I absolutely love these amazing handpainted wooden holders! They come in all sorts of different colours and are great for adding colour to a room.

04. In my latest Boots order I bought a couple of the Superfacialist masks and I've been really impressed with both. I've seen nothing but rave reviews about this pre-cleanse oil and I'd love to add it to my skincare routine. I never used to be a fan of rose scented anything, but I've been trying a lot of skincare with it in recently and I love it all.

05. Of course, I need some new tarts to go in a burner! My tumbler of summer scoop has recently burnt all the way to the bottom, so I need to get my hands on that! As well as that I really want to try a couple scents I haven't had before. Honey Blossom sounds like it would be so nice and delicate, and I love anything pineapple too.

06. I just spotted this Topshop bag online today, and although I know it probably won't be something I'd buy, it is very cute all the same!

07. The sun is out again but it has been pouring down this week up north, leaving me with very soggy feet in my ballet flats. I don't really have any flat ankle boots I'd be comfortable wearing on an everyday basis, but Betty London have a great selection.

08. I mentioned recently I've not shopped in Lush for a very long time, and I'm definitely missing it. I miss my baths, face masks, bombs and ballistics. There's a few new items on the website, and one of the things that really caught my eye is the Ne Worry Pas ballistic. I really like how it's made using soya milk and violets.

A love affair with stationary

I know I'm certainly not alone when I say, I am unequivocally and unashamedly in love with stationary. Notebooks, washi tape, new pens, post-it notes, scrapbooks; I have it all. I have always had a love of writing lists which is probably where it comes from, and I scrapbooked from a young age. If there are notebooks in a shop, they immediately catch my eye, until I'm usually dragged away from my Mum muttering "you don't need any more!".

This week four new ones have been added to the collection (oops!). The Rifle Paper Co. popped up on my Pinterest recently and I just fell in love. The patterns are beautiful, and they have such a lovely range of products (think anything from stickers to iphone cases). I actually found the set of three I bought on Amazon as they were a little cheaper, and I've already been scribbling meal plans and healthy recipes inside one. Mum also bought me an a4 one from Sainsburys which is a pretty turquoise colour with daisy's on.

Another favourite is definitely my Paris one from Paperchase. Kane actually spilled a brew all over the inside not too long ago and I was definitely choking back the tears as I ripped out the ruined pages. And of course, I have to give a special mention to the Frankie Diary. 2013 was only my second one but I know it'll be a diary I'll be buying for many years to come. I know my collection may be a bit excessive (it's not all pictured, by the way!) but I definitely do feel it helps keep me inspired and organized, and I'll always keep at least one on me. Are you a fellow stationary lover?
